Chance The Rapper, is an American hip hop recording artist from Chicago, Illinois. Chance (Chancelor Bennett) grew up a fan of soul and jazz music but later became a fan of hip-hop music after purchasing and listening to Kanye West’s 2004 debut album ‘The College Dropout’. His first mixtape, ’10 day’ has been downloaded over 100 000 times since its release. The mix tape got the attention of columnists at Forbes magazine, which featured it in the publication’s Cheap Tunes column. Soon afterwards, rapper Childish Gambino asked Bennett to be the opening act on his 2012 tour. Bennett helped to round-out his skills by doing open-mic and poetry nights. As a teenager, he frequented YOUmedia, a youth center in Chicago’s downtown Harold Washington Library where he was able to work on his public speaking and get better at telling stories to a larger audience. Bennett released his second mixtape, ‘Acid Rap’ ,on April 30, 2013. It was also nominated for ‘Best Mix tape’ at the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards.
