Army of Anyone is a rock band formed by the former vocalist for the rock band Filter- Richard Patrick. The band also features former members from the stone temple pilots as well as the former drummer from David Lee Roth’s band. This is also the first major project that the Deleo brothers have done without former Stone Temple Pilots vocalist Scott Weiland since the band’s breakup in 2003.

The band was formed while Patrick was working on new material for a fourth Filter album in his home studio. Patrick managed to get the DeLeo brothers to help him with some new material for the album but was so impressed with their chemistry that they decided to form a new band. They got Ray Luzier to audition for the band as well and after a successful audition he too soon joined the band. The album was produced by Bob Ezrin, the producer behind Pink Floyd’s epic rock opera The Wall and Alice Cooper’s early hits.

The band was hoping for an early release in 2006 but personal reasons such as band members getting married and having children suspended the release for much of the year. During the break, the band decided to go into the studio once more and re-mix and re-master the album. The album finally was released in November. Their first single ‘Goodbye’ made it to satellite radio and Yahoo music in October. Since the release of the album, the band has been promoting it at radio stations across America. The band has also began to tour in hopes of promoting the album.

Army of Anyone plays songs from their first album as well as cover songs from both Filter and Stone Temple Pilots like “Vasoline” , “Big Bang Baby”, “Take A Picture” and “Hey Man, Nice Shot” as part of their set. You can also find a special promotion from the band on I tunes which includes their single “Goodbye” , the music video for the single and an exclusive podcast that features interviews with the band members discussing all of the tracks on the album. Their current single “Goodbye” can be heard on radio stations nationwide as well as our artist spotlight section of our media player.

In our fifth and final edition of Fast Food Multiculturalism; we take a look at American Fast Food. The odd thing about any type of American fast food is that the majority of it is simply a repetition of some other culture’s food. This is not an insult in any way as Americans have taken meals from other cultures and transformed them into something completely new and different than what was previously thought of before. Fast food places originally sold hamburgers as their primary product. In recent decades, Mexican-style food like tacos and burritos, as well as pizza, have also become staples of fast food culture in America and have been transferred overseas to Europe and Asia. Common menu items at fast food outlets include fish and chips, sandwiches, pitas, hamburgers, fried chicken, french fries, chicken nuggets, tacos, pizza, and ice cream. There are a few items that are native to America that i will name though beginning with potato chips.

A potato chip or crisp is a slim slice of a potato deep fried or baked until crisp. Potato chips serve as an appetizer or snack. Commercial varieties are packaged for sale, usually in bags.

Another American favorite is Macaroni and Cheese which is a common dish whose main ingredients are cooked macaroni (often termed elbow macaroni in the US) and a cheese sauce. The commercialized version often involves powdered cheese mix instead of a more traditional cheese sauce like Velveeta or melted cheddar cheese.

Fried chicken is chicken which is dipped in a breaded mixture and then deep fried, pan fried, or pressure cooked. It can often be viewed as unhealthy because of the fatty juices that get absorbed in the process. White meat on a bone or boneless is often used and the fast food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken along with many imitators have commercialized the food and sold it internationally. (more…)

Nonpoint is an alternative rap/metal band from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The band name is derived from the band name ‘Nonpoint Factor’, which was the name of Rob Rivera’s previous band in Puerto Rico before he moved to Florida. Nonpoint formed in 1997 and gained popularity in Florida with the help of a large metal scene in South Florida. Nonpoint’s first album Separate Yourself was released independently in 1997. They then released the album ‘Struggle’ through Jagular Records and followed that up with ‘Statement’ in 2000 through MCA Records.

The band went on to tour with other metal acts such as Sevendust, Linkin Park and Staind before returning to the studio and releasing the album ‘Development’ in 2002. The band then toured extensively and made appearances at Ozzfest as well as the K-Rockathon. In 2004, they released ‘Recoil’ which included a popular cover of Phil Collins’ hit song ‘In the Air Tonight’. The cover song has since been used as a single on the soundtrack for the hit film adaptation of Miami Vice. Their fifth major album ‘To The Pain’ was released in 2005 and has so far sold over 50 000 copies in the US. In late 2005 they toured once again with Sevendust and plan on releasing a cd/dvd live show from their hometown in the Fall of 2006. You can check out their hit cover song ‘In The Air Tonight’ on the site while it lasts.

In part #1, we took a look at some of the greatest sports cities that have won multiple championships or titles amongst their teams in MLB, NBA,NFL and the NHL. In this article, we take a look at some of the more mediocre clubs that have had an equal amount of success as well as failure. These are cities who’s sports teams have made it to the finals but just haven’t reached the success that they could have achieved to make them great sport cities.

Mediocre Cities

Dallas, Texas.

Dallas has a decent overall record of 4-2. Out of the 4 titles, 3 have come from the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys who won 3 Super Bowls in 4 years thanks to the help of quarterback Troy Aikman, running back Emmitt Smith and wide receivers Dion Sanders and Micheal Irvin. Other than the cowboys, not much has happened for a state who’s motto is supposedly that ‘Everything Is Bigger In Texas’. Owner Mark Cuban bought the struggling Dallas Mavericks of the NBA and helped turn that franchise around with the team reaching the NBA Finals in 2006 only to lose to Shaquille O’Neal and the Miami Heat. After moving from Minnesota, the Dallas Stars of the NHL have won 1 Stanley Cup and lost 1 as well. The team has been a strong contender for many years but hasn’t seemed to find the right mix to make it back to the Cup Finals Yet. Meanwhile, the Texas Rangers, who at one point were owned by President of The United States, George Bush, have yet to make it to the World Series once since 1980. This is a city on the verge of some great things in the near future but isn’t quite up there with the big boys just yet.

Denver, Colorado.

Denver has an overall record of 4-3. Quarterback John Elway was long considered to be a guy that couldn’t win the big game losing in 3 appearances at the Super Bowl. However, his luck changed and along with running back Terrell Davis and tight end Shanon Sharpe, the NFL’s Denver Broncos went on to win back-to-back Super Bowls in 1996 and 1997. After relocating to Colorado from Quebec City, the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche won the Stanley Cup in their very first year of being a franchise. They have since won once more making them 2-0 overall in the Stanley Cup Finals. However, the luck isn’t as great for MLB’s Colorado Rockies who have yet to make it to the World Series yet. The same can be said of the NBA’s Denver Nuggets who have yet to make it to the NBA Finals since 1980. (more…)

Television Gameshows have brought us many memorable quotes throughout the years but no single gameshow has lasted longer than ‘The Price Is Right’ with host Bob Barker. Bob Barker has been the host since the show’s relaunch in 1972 and still hosts the show to this day. Every famous gameshow usually ends with a simple good bye or farewell but Bob puts a spin on his send off by reminding the public about his love of animals and how to control their population with this funny little quote:

“This is Bob Barker reminding you to help control the pet population, have your pet spayed or neutered. Good-bye everybody!” – Bob Barker, The Price is Right
