Justice are a Grammy award nominated band from France. Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay got their start by winning a remix competition at a Paris college’s local radio station. The remix of Simian’s “Never Be Alone” earned them a deal with Ed Banger Records who released the song for them to various clubs and the internet. It would later be released commercially in the U.K. with the help of Ten Records (a sub-label of Virgin Records).Justice would later help in the remixing of songs for groups such as N.E.R.D & Daft Punk and for artists such as Fatboy Slim and Britney Spears. Justice won the award for Best Video at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2006 but couldn’t accept their award due to prior commitments. Their video director accepted the award on their behalf but was famously interrupted by R & B/rapper Kanye West who thought he should have won the award instead of them. Kanye would later phone the group to apologize for his actions. In 2007, the group would tour across the globe with stops at such concerts as the Coachella Music Festival, Fuji’s Rock Festival and the Oxegen festival in Kildare, Ireland just to name a few.Their Coachella performance was actually their first performance in front of a live audience as before that they would simply be in the studio or doing videos with their turntables. Their act has attracted attention for their large lighted-up crucifix that joins them on stage in the background. Justice was nominated for Best Dance Recording (for D.A.N.C.E.) and Best Electronic/Dance Album (for †) at the 50th Grammy Awards. You can check out more of Justice over at our jukebox.

Let’s check out a great new group of DJs called The X-Ecutioners. This 3 man DJ group consists of DJs Roc Raida, Rob Swift, and Total Eclipse and has won their fans support by traveling from club to club and by having a strong word of mouth and buzz surrounding the group. The group formed originally in 1989 and was known as the X-Men. The group consisted of a bunch of local popular DJs in New York City and was formed to go to battle with a rival DJ group known as The Supermen in some Turntable battles. Members joined and left the group but in 1997 The X-Ecutioners were signed to a major label and released their first solo album and the first solo album ever to be released by a DJ group. In 1998, Steve Rifkind, the CEO of Sony Music’s Loud Records, heard the group play in an L.A. club and signed the band to a four record deal. The first album was the critically acclaimed album “Built from Scratch” which debuted at #15 on The Top 40 Billboard Charts. The band received even more success when they teamed with Rock powerhouse Linkin Park for the single “It’s Going Down” which stayed on the charts for 8 weeks. They later were the opening act in 2002 for Eminem on the Anger Management Tour. They even jumped into the gaming phenomenon when they released singles for the video games NFL Street and SSX 3 produced both by Electronic Arts.

The group has collaborated with some huge names as well like fellow DJs Dan the Automater and Fatboy Slim. Their latest album, “Revolutions” is their best yet and is once again receiving critical acclaim from all of those that hear it. The new album mixes some great Hip-Hop and Rock elements with a tad touch of Electronica to boot so be sure to buy their latest album “Revolutions” which is in stores right now.
