We refused to write a recap of E3 2008 as we felt that it was simply a rehash of E3 2007 without much fanfare. We were glad to see that E3 2009 went back to the basics with more of a large-scale event compared to the previous two years where they stripped much of what made E3 fun out of the event. The games were always present like usual as well as more booth babes which is never a bad thing at an E3 Expo. E3 2009 was a great year for hardware device add-ons as we saw numerous hardware gadgets at the show including the introduction of the motion sensing device known as Project Natal from Microsoft as well as the Wii Motion Plus addition for the Nintendo Wii. Sony introduced their new PSP Portable device called ‘PSP Go’ and there was plenty of games now taking advantage of hardware additions including the new Guitar Hero ‘DJ Edition’ which includes a turntable device and Tony Hawk’s new skateboarding video game which will include a skateboard to use while playing the game.

Nintendo also had a booth showcasing some more stuff for their Wii Fit brand but we don’t think showcasing exercise equipment to a bunch of overweight reporters was the best marketing campaign for the company and hope to see the device being marketed more in places where people might actually use one like at the gym. It wouldn’t be an E3 if we didn’t talk about some great new games that are on the horizon and luckily for us there was some solid games at this year’s event. Here’s a quick rundown of 5 games that we expect will do well this holiday season.

Batman: Arkhym Asylum

-It’s not too often that the words ‘Batman’ and ‘Video Game’ get people excited but it’s looking like we may finally have a great Batman game on our hands. The reason that movie video games have done poorly in the past is that developers have often been given limited development time in order to release the video game at the same time as the movie’s release date. This video game has no story arc with any Batman movie and was therefore given the proper development time that it deserved in order to make the game better. It’s a pretty simple plot. The Joker fakes being captured and sent to the asylum only to lock Batman in Arkhym with every single bad guy that he’s helped to capture in the first place. The game features some beat em up action as well as some stealth and plenty of gadgets to play around with. The PS3 version will even allow you to play as the Joker so there’s an extra incentive for all those PS3 owners to pick up the game and play it on the PS3.

We don’t know why it’s taken so long for us to write about this topic but the time has finally arrived to unveil the beds that we would love to sleep or relax in. Lots of web sites showcase beds that look like they’re from the year 2040. They look all futurist-icy and have an all white background with white furniture and white walls. We might show one of two of those because they’re cool but we tried to find some beds that we would want to sleep in, that are easy to maintain if you get food all over them or can easily be thrown away and most importantly —Beds that you would treat as a home within a home and wouldn’t even want to get your lazy ass out of bed for. After all, we are lazy and the things our bed should do for us is help us eat, sleep and make us comfortable.

Nintendo NES Bed

-The first bed on our list can be classified as ‘cheating’ since it’s the bed sheets that are cool and not so much the bed but the design was too cool for us to pass up. The Nintendo NES Bed transforms your bed to look like a Nintendo NES system with matching controllers. If you’re a gamer and love any type of video games or simply love to collect retro stuff from the 1980s then this is definitely the bed for you.

Fast food joints have been around since the early 1960s. The increase in the number of fast food franchises has caused the market to become saturated. The same tried and true mainstays at most fast food places simply aren’t bringing in the revenue that they once did. This is causing quite a panic for fast food executives who are always creating new meal ideas and testing them out in test markets to see whether they will succeed or fail in the bigger markets of North America. One such example is the recent success of KFC’s Double Down sandwich which got as much media hype for its sodium content and number of calories as it did for its successful marketing campaign. Customers were impressed enough that it helped to increase KFC’s quarterly profits and became one of the top ten new menu items for fast food joints in 2010. Unfortunately, not every new food item becomes a massive success as you will see in some of the examples that we provide below.

Burger King Enormous Omelet Sandwich

-Breakfast is supposed to be the most important meal of the day but I don’t think that’s what Burger King executives had in mind when they created this sandwich. It’s not a good start when the breakfast sandwich has more calories over Burger King’s Whopper. The problem with this sandwich was that it simply wasn’t tasty at all. The sandwich had bacon, cheese, sausage and yet nothing came together and tasted as if you just took all of these foods and piled them together on a bun. The only thing that this sandwich had going for it was that it was bigger than any other breakfast sausage which wasn’t necessarily a good thing. The sandwich was discontinued in the USA but is still sold in select international markets.

There are a lot of people in the world who use an alarm clock in order to wake up each morning. The two prevailing sounds that most people hear everytime that they wake up are a loud ringing sound or the quieter but longer lasting beep noise. The advancements in MP3 technology and digital music players has now allowed individuals to be able to use their Ipod, cellphone or clock radio with MP3 music added-on to be able to play their favorite song as an alarm clock wakeup rather than those old sounds that we’re used to. But what would be a good song to play that has the theme of getting people up and ready to start their day? We now take a look at some songs that would be a perfect addition to an individual’s alarm clock every morning or night.

Artist: U2
Song : Beautiful Day

-The first in our alarm clock entries is U2’s ‘Beautiful Day’. This song is hopeful and optimistic. You feel as though you’re going to have a great day today. The lyrics ring true by telling you ‘It’s a beautiful Day…Don’t let it get away’ which helps to tell you that tomorrow may not be such a great day so you better get out of bed and enjoy the day because tomorrow might be crappy and rain or a bird might poop on you so get up already and enjoy this great day today.

Professional wrestling has been around for a very long time. It has gone from being a sport that was witnessed at carnival events and transformed into the sports entertainment spectacle that you see today. Former wrestlers were viewed as superheroes and people that could save the day in an action flick. Since then, wrestlers use their real name more often than not and we’ve lost some of that childhood innocence that wrestling used to have. Wrestling is more like a soap opera where the wrestlers play the role that they’re told to play and use real life drama to try and get the fans attention. This new reality has made it hard for the wrestling fan to accept certain characters based on preconceived notions of the individual or based on the fact that the wrestling fan has been conditioned to watch wrestling in a certain way that they no longer understand how to form a logical thought and cheer or boo for what they prefer to see inside the ring. This makes it hard for the creative team to come up with new ideas or to push new wrestlers because the fan simply isn’t buying into what’s being given to them anymore. Therefore, we offer up a few examples of story lines that have been overused or simply won’t work anymore in the modern world.

Wrestlers being fired

– There was once a time when a wrestler being fired meant something in this industry. In the territory days, a wrestler firing could have signaled a legitimate disagreement between the promoter and the wrestler and meant that the wrestler was being blackballed from a certain region. During the Monday Night Wars, a wrestling firing meant that an individual might be jumping ship to another promotion and this was their swan song by the booking team. A wrestling firing today usually means that the individual is being fired to take time off from an injury, personal reasons (rehab) or needs time off to go and shoot a movie. When wrestlers get fired and then show up on television after only 2 weeks then you lose all credibility with your fan base. There is no competition for a company such as WWE and the wrestling fan knows that if the wrestler gets fired then there is nowhere else to go. Where is the wrestler going to end up? The Indy Scene? Mexico? Japan? This story line has been done to death and simply isn’t believable anymore.
