Ric “The Nature Boy” Flair is one of the biggest known American professional wrestlers in the world. He is recognized by many within the WWE and WCW as having been a 16 time World Champion although that number is up to debate depending on the source. According to WWE, Flair is an eight-time National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) Champion, six-time WCW Champion and two-time WWE Champion. He has also had tremendous success with being in one of the greatest wrestling stables of all time (The Four Horsemen). Despite his age, Flair is still able to compete on a regular basis thanks to his charisma and showmanship in the ring. He is often known for his cheating antics that have given him the nickname “The Dirtiest Player in the Game” as well as his trademark strut and his constant need to yell “WOO!” whenever he chops someone in the chest in the corner. He still wears sequin robes and comes out to the theme music used in 2001: A Space Odyssey which only further emphasizes the grandeur of his character and of his entrance into the ring. Flair will be inducted into the 2007 WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony in April of this year and will be one of the few wrestlers to be inducted while still being an active wrestler which can only further help his image as one of the greatest pro wrestlers alive today. Flair has had many great quotes in his professional wrestling career including the famous “To Be The Man……….You Need To Beat The Man!!!” but our favorite includes his quote that best describes his lifestyle and his professional wrestling career which is this quote:

“I’m a stylin’, profilin’, limousine-ridin’, jet-flyin’, kiss-stealin’, wheeler-dealin’, son of a gun, who’s kissed all the girls and made them cry.” – Ric Flair

GEICO (The Government Employees Insurance Company) is an American auto insurance company. GEICO provides coverage to more than 10 million motor cars, trucks and other motor vehicles. It is also owned by more than 8 million policy holders. GEICO is currently a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. GEICO has had many successful advertising campaigns over the years including commercials featuring a CGI lizard gecko, a caveman spoof that was later turned into a 30 minute television comedy as well as recent advertising campaigns featuring celebrities such as Little Richard, Peter Frampton and Joan Rivers just to name a few. These are all good campaigns but our favorite includes the Good News/Bad News campaign in which people describe having good news because of switching to GEICO at the expense of other people. The joke in the ad is that the news of GEICO is usually irrelevant because it has no immediate benefit or use to the other person being given the news. For example, a struggling relief pitcher in baseball is being given the boot by his manager. The manager tells him that he has bad news/good news. The pitcher asks what the bad news is first and the manager replies by ordering the pitcher out of the game for his terrible performance. The pitcher then asks what the good news is and the manager replies by saying that he just saved a bunch of money on his car insurance by switching to GEICO. Here is the quote in its entirety…

“I have good news…I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to GEICO.” – The Government Employees Insurance Company

Shigeru Miyamoto is a Japanese video game designer. He is the creator of the Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Star Fox and Pikmin video game franchises and has also supervised many other titles including Metroid Prime and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games. Miyamoto is often described as the “Father of Modern Videogaming” because of his games’ simplistic storylines, tight gameplay controls and the use of a gamer’s imagination to seek out new worlds and to discover things for themselves. He is currently the Senior Marketing Director of Nintendo and General Manager of Nintendo EAD.In 1998, Miyamoto became the first person to be inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences’ Hall of Fame. During his early childhood, Miyamoto would explore the landscape surrounding his house by exploring hidden caves and lakes and his fascination with the environment would lead to many of the ingredients of his future games. Shigeru’s lovable imagination is why we have chosen him as the quote of the month and here is Shigeru describing his view of an imaginary world to us.

“What if everything that you see, is more than what you see? The person next to you is a warrior and the space that appears empty is a door to another world? What if something appears that shouldn’t? You either dismiss it or accept that there is more to the world that you think. Perhaps it is really a doorway, and if you choose to go inside, you’ll find many unexpected things.” – Shigeru Miyamoto

Calvin and Hobbes is a comic strip written by Bill Watterson about a stuffed toy tiger that comes to life through the imagination of a young boy named Calvin. The comic strip was syndicated in newspapers from 1985-1995 and has appeared in nearly 2400 newspapers worldwide. While the strip mainly deals with Calvin’s vivid imagination, the strip also does examine broad issues like environmentalism, public education and various political issues surrounding the government and democracy. Calvin and Hobbes strips are characterized by intelligent humor, poignant observations, witty social and political commentary, and well-developed characters.Watterson often likes to throw in metaphors in his work by using Calvin’s imagination and Hobbes’ witty humor as a way of showcasing certain events that lie underneath the humor and fantasy. One of the more humorous elements of the comic strip is Calvin’s lack of an attention span when it comes to education or his need to sit in front of the television screen and watch programs rather than listen to his father’s orders. It’s this theory that has helped this website stay strong over the years and is one of Calvin’s quotes that have helped to showcase our own theory of this website to any potential new audience that wishes to visit this website.

Calvin: “As far as I’m concerned, if something is so complicated that you can’t explain it in 10 seconds, then it’s probably not worth knowing anyway.” – The Indispensable Calvin and Hobbes p. 25

Roger Ebert is an award winning American film critic and screenwriter. His reviews can be read in more than 200 newspapers worldwide. Ebert began writing reviews for the Chicago Sun-Times in 1969 and would later go on to host a syndicated movie review show called “At The Movies with Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert” for nearly 22 years before Siskel’s death in 1999. Ebert would find a replacement in fellow Sun-Times columnist Richard Roeper and the two would go on to continue reviewing films until Ebert’s recent health problems caused him to take a leave of absence from the show. Also, Ebert co-wrote the screenplay for the 1970 cult film Beyond the Valley of the Dolls alongside famous exploitation director Russ Meyer. Meyer and Ebert would go on to produce a few other films that were quietly forgotten about over time. Another signature part of Ebert that shouldn’t be forgotten when discussing about him is his use of the thumbs up/down system that helped to make Siskel and him famous when reviewing films. The two would often be included in movie previews for giving a film “2 thumbs up” as a seal of their approval for the film. Ebert has done a great job at reviewing films, and while his reviews may cause criticism from time to time; his opinions are always valid and to the point. Here we give you a great quote from Roger discussing his opinion on great films.

“Every great film should seem new every time you see it.” – Roger Ebert.
