We said that we would be bringing back our fast food trend series and we weren’t lying. Here are some more fast food trends that we hope you enjoy reading.

Playgrounds

-The McDonald’s Playland opened its doors in 1971. Fast food giants like McDonald’s , Chuck E. Cheese and other restaurants are always trying to create the next great playground to convince kids to come and play there and hopefully eat some food as well. It gives parents a chance to relax for a few seconds while their kids run around and have some fun. It seems that these playgrounds are also full of germs as one mother spent money to test 10 local fast food playgrounds and discovered fecal matter in 9 out of the 10 restaurants that were tested. McDonald’s is now moving away from PlayLands and are beginning to create new McDonald’s R Gyms that include interactive fun zones and stationary bikes attached to video games to try and get kids more active and to lose some weight after eating those 20 chicken mcnuggets. Personally, I used to like the old McDonald’s PlayLands that were outside and featured cool playground equipment that you didn’t see at any other playground in the area. Some of the equipment looked as dangerous as hell but it was part of the experience. Now, all the playgrounds are these coconut plastic tubes that look like they’re designed to get kids trapped inside them and never leave the restaurant again.

E3 2011 has arrived and this will mark the 17th Electronic Entertainment Expo. We were given a sneak peek at Sony’s new handheld device, PSVita, as well as Nintendo’s new console called the ‘Wii U’. Microsoft’s big announcement was the unveiling of Halo 4 which seems a bit common of an announcement at this point but was still treated as a big deal by the executives at the company. Microsoft put in more effort by showcasing their Kinect, controller-free device along with some highly anticipated games to play on the new device.

-The Wii U will be Nintendo’s first attempt at graphical catching up as the next generation console will be the company’s first attempt at 1080p graphics. The CPU for the system will be an all-new design that is to be created by IBM. Company executives were more busy spending their time focusing on marketing the new Wii U controller which will be a touch-screen controller that can transfer game play to the controller even after the television has been turned off. Also, the controller will feature additional features such as a camera, microphone, gyroscope and near field communication that can interact with card games and be used for micro transactions with a credit card. The system won’t rely on 3D very much but will feature more online content and a Nintendo Network that will allow gamers to purchase their games online and interact with other gamers in a social manner through the store. The system will be showcased at the Consumer Electronics Showcase and will be ready to launch during the holiday season in 2012.

The summer season is in full force and once again another Electronic Expo Event has come and gone. For those keeping count, this was the 16th expo to take place and it was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Once again, we got a chance to see the heavyweights like Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft show off what new surprises they have in store for the video game fans. Nintendo gave us our first introduction to the Nintendo 3DS which is Nintendo’s brand new 3D powered portable gaming device. Sony spoke more about their plans to advertise the playstation Move and also discussed their intentions to create a brand new paid-subscription service for the playstation network called ‘Playstation Plus’. Microsoft would not be left out of the sensor discussion as they hyped their own user-sensory device – Microsoft Kinect. All the major developers were on hand and they showcased the latest games to come out this holiday season as well as some new surprises which won’t be on store shelves for another year or two. Here’s a few of the games that caught our eye at the event…

Rage

-Rage is a first person shooter from id software. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world after an Asteroid crashes down and kills everything in sight. The survivors of the crash are humans who hid in pods buried deep beneath the ground and have now awaken to find themselves in a desert-like atmosphere. Of course, what would a post-apocalyptic world be without mutants as the enemies trying to kill all of the humans. This game will be running on a brand spanking new game engine called id Tech 5. Unlike other first person shooters, this game will feature a strong racing element to the game as the developers worked hard on trying to add racing combat as a main plot element in the game. Gamers will be able to drive dune buggys and also try to kill each other online with vehicles as the racing will be a strong multiplayer component of the game as well.

The time has arrived for us to close the book on our series on music that will get you up and out of bed. The songs that will be featured include a famous song from a popular motion picture, a mafia television show intro, a song from a band that breaks up and reconciles every 30 seconds and many others.

Artist: Survivor
Song: Eye of the Tiger

-If you grew up in the 80s then it was pretty hard not get caught up in the Rocky films starring Sylvester Stallone. One of the most memorable moments in the film was when Stallone did his training regimen which concluded with Rocky having to climb a bunch of stairs and throwing his arms up in victory once he reached the top with our wake up song playing in the background. This song is synonymous with the image of Rocky waking up early to train and prepare for his battle in the ring which is the same result that most people will want to feel when they wake up in the morning – the feeling of preparing for battle against whatever obstacles you may face over the course of your day. If that doesn’t prepare you to conquer your day then perhaps these lyrics will help you in your decision; ‘Risin’ up to the challenge of our rival’ and ‘Just a man and his will to survive’.

The only thing we enjoy more than sleeping is eating and drinking stuff. In order to eat and drink, we’re going to need some cool electronics to make sure that out drinks stay nice and cool and that our food doesn’t spoil prematurely. We decided to take a look at some cool new fridges that are both technologically advanced as well as artistically pleasing. Some of these fridges are concept ideas that may never make it to a department store near you while others are more basic fridges but are very cool to look at.

Electrolux Modular Refrigerator

-The modular refrigerator was designed for students living in dorm rooms. The fridge starts off with a base unit and can have new fridges mounted on top of each other depending on how many students are living together. This gives each student their own personal fridge as well as their own personal lock so that no other student can steal milk or cookies from someone else when they get the late night munchies.
